Is TRAZER reimbursable through insurance?

TRAZER is reimbursable through Medicare, Medicaid, and 3rd party payers via standard CPT coding. The Return-to-Play and Bess Test are reimbursed under CPT 97750 (testing). Dynamic therapeutic activity is reimbursed through CPT code 97530, based on a 15 minute session.

What if a patient changes healthcare providers?

TRAZER offers consistency of care. Though the patient may not have the same therapist or nurse from time-to-time, he can be administered the identical program via TRAZER, and the reporting is objective for each session. With proper password protected access, the patient’s TRAZER records can be shared with a new healthcare provider across town or around the world via the HIPAA Compliant Cloud.

How does the PT determine the patient’s functional measures?

The PT determines the patient’s functional measures via:

  1. The patient’s self-report regarding restrictions, pain, etc.
  2. A functional performance test, which needs to be interpreted and scored. As your facility’s functional performance test, TRAZER provides the most relevant and objective functional data for the weight-bearing population, as well as the ability to baseline at the first, tenth, and discharge visits (as required by Medicare) to document the efficacy of your program.

How does TRAZER help with the cognitive effects of concussion?

Reaction based sports challenge the athlete’s cognitive, sensory, and neuromuscular systems. These three systems must be assessed concurrently. Only TRAZER provides multiple cognitive tasks simultaneously that directly replicate the challenges of sport.

TRAZER reports decrease time spent on documentation and paperwork, freeing staff for treatment time and improving patient care.

How does TRAZER mimic game-like conditions?

TRAZER’s continuous measurement of heart rate (by telemetry) and movement velocity (including acceleration/deceleration in 8 movement directions) measures the athlete’s work capacity and can be compared to baseline or normative data. The athlete’s reaction time to unplanned visual cues provides a measure of the athlete’s cognitive prowess during game-like conditions.

Why use TRAZER over other types of concussion assessments?

Unlike static balance tests, fundamental aspects of depth perception, dynamic visual acuity, peripheral awareness and anticipation skills are assessed by TRAZER during the execution of realistic game scenarios.  The continuous tracking of body rotations as well as elevational changes more realistically challenges the sensory and vestibular systems than do current approaches.


Can you cheat the TRAZER test?

Unlike with any other concussion baseline methodology, it is difficult, if not impossible, to “cheat” on a TRAZER assessment as objective physiological / performance responses such as heart rate, reaction time, acceleration and velocity are being measured and compared to both baseline testing and normative data. Healthcare professionals value TRAZERʼs easy-to-read format; the red and green column assists in making expeditious return-to-play assessments; the red numbers show percent of deficit; the green show percent of improvement.
